If you want to experiment with the latest Marlin firmware then you should only need to merge the changes in Configuration.h and Configuration_adv.h from the above archives into a copy of the latest Marlin firmware. Make sure you use a proper file merge tool like [[http://winmerge.org|Winmerge]] - don't just copy the old configuration files into the new firmware.
