====== jit's Bukobot 8 Duo build - how it was done ====== (Go back up to [[bukobot-assembly-documentation|Building a Bukobot - Assembly Instructions]]) This started out as documentation of the building of one instance of the **Bukobot 8 Duo kit**, the model that has dual extruders and a heated bed platform, but now it has multiple contributors and describes multiple models. Nearly everything here should apply equally well to all current versions of the Bukobot. You are welcome to improve this documentation. Please note the licenses listed at the bottom of each page. This is not Deezmaker's "official" build manual. Their manual is still largely unwritten, and is likely to stay that way until they have shipped all of the Kickstarter machines, but do refer to the things that are [[bukobot-assembly-documentation|already there]], and check back there occasionally. Their manual may do things differently, in particular the order in which things are assembled. The build presented here assumes that the kit builder has limited space for assembly; the smallest subassemblies are built first, then assembled into larger subassemblies, then the frame is built last and everything added to it. The parts most likely to be damaged during the build are installed as late as possible, to minimize their handling. Now that many people have received their kits, there are multiple contributors to this documentation and it is changing on a daily basis. If you are building a kit and following this documentation, and you reach a point where something doesn't make sense, go back to the beginning of the documentation and read it through to see if clarification has been added in the meantime. If the mystery remains, ask on the [[http://forum.bukobot.com/index.php?topic=2.0|forum]]. As with all such things, there is no warranty that a build like this will work for you. Use eye protection. Don't do unsafe things. Have fun. ----------- Some photos show printed parts lists. These are based on an early version of the Bill of Materials (BOM), and may not exactly match your kit. Some of these parts lists may also be incorrect; corrections, where known, are noted in the text. Some images should be replaced to more accurately reflect the current BOM. If you got a BOM with your kit, trust it first. If errors are found in //that// BOM, those errors should be documented on these pages. If you are an "early adopter", and got your machine before Deezmaker started shipping in quantity, then you may have older versions of some parts. Deezmaker has changed a number of parts, primarily to make the printer easier to build and use. Compare your parts with those shown in the images; if they are different, then some of the things written and shown here may not apply to you, unless you switch to the newer parts. (One of the marvelous things about this device is that it enables you to make improvements to it by using the device to make its own improved parts.) These pages may be available for years after they are written. Bukobot designs are updated often. Things shown here may become outdated, so compare carefully with the parts you get in your kit. Read each page all the way through before doing anything mentioned on the page. Read the entire build description all the way through before doing anything else. If you start with a good set of [[jitsbuild-tools|tools]], your build will be much easier. Read the section on [[Cleaning up printed parts|cleaning up the 3D printed parts]]. The parts sometimes need finishing work such as enlarging holes for screws, or removing excess material left over from the printing process. Additions and improvements to that page would be particularly welcome. If you find yourself applying a lot of force to get something done, you're probably doing it wrong. You don't need any power tools to build this kit, although a small cordless screwdriver with a set of metric hex drivers will certainly speed things up. If you have any questions about anything here, ask on the [[http://forum.bukobot.com/index.php?topic=2.0|forum]]. In general, the images shown on these pages are not the highest resolution versions available. Click on the image to see a better image, if available. Sometimes you can click on //that// image to see an even better one. Yet even better versions may be available; if there is some tiny detail you would like to see even more clearly, ask on the [[http://forum.bukobot.com/index.php?topic=2.0|forum]]. //The background grid seen in some photos is a 1 cm grid.// * [[jitsbuild-tools|Tools]] * [[jitsbuild-x-carriage|X carriage]] * [[jitsbuild-x-leftend|X left end]] * [[jitsbuild-x-rightend|X right end]] * [[jitsbuild-y-backend|Y back end]] * [[jitsbuild-y-frontend|Y front end]] * [[jitsbuild-y-carriage|Y carriage]] * [[jitsbuild-y-axis|Y axis]] * [[jitsbuild-frame|Frame]] * [[jitsbuild-z-axis|Z axis]] * [[jitsbuild-x-axis|X axis]] * [[jitsbuild-platform|Platform]] * [[jitsbuild-extruder|Extruder]] * [[jitsbuild-wires|Wires]] [[jitsbuild-tools|Next: Tools]] //The contents of this page may be re-used under any of the following licenses: The [[http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/|Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License (CC BY-SA 3.0)]], or the [[http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/fdl.html|GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL, version 1.2 or later)]].//
